Website Design:
Services & Pricing

Are you an author, book or film reviewer, book blogger or Booktuber?

I specialize in websites for creatives who want to spend time writing and publishing content, not maintaining a website.

Website Design (powered by Squarespace)

Your website package will include four 30-minute Skype interviews or tutorial sessions so we can both feel confident about the best way to meet your goal of having your own beautiful and affordable space online. Then, after the launch of your website, I will follow up with you for 30 days with up to two hours of additional tutorials or minor adjustments to your website.*

These prices DO NOT include the cost of purchasing your domain name, a subscription to Squarespace, or fees for other services, such as (but not limited to) buying image rights, processing fees for e-commerce, email marketing services, automation platforms, or any other services or products you would like to use to enhance or market your website.

Before we begin:

If you have an existing website and would like some feedback before you embark on a new website or a redesign, I offer a Website Review/Recommendation Report for a flat rate of $50.

I'll look at the overall design of your website for its visual appeal, including color scheme and ease of navigation, then assess whether your 'branding' is consistent across all fronts, and if you have communicated your message clearly. I'll check all of your links and report any that are broken. Send me the links to a few specific articles or blog posts, and I'll review those as well for readability, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

Initial Set Up $300+

If you don't already have a website with Squarespace, that's not a problem--we'll get you moved over. This may involve importing content and moving your domain name, but we can get it done, one step at a time.

Redesign $150+

If you already subscribe to Squarespace but need design or redesign help, we'll talk about your goals and create a package that best fits your needs.

Cover/Landing Page $100

Landing Page: That's exactly what it is--a place for you to send readers, usually from a specific call-to-action link you've placed in an email marketing campaign or social media advertisement. A Landing Page may promote and sell your new book, or offer a freebie to grow your email subscription list.

Why send readers to a landing page instead of the home page of your website? Because a landing page is designed specifically for a particular campaign, therefore the focus is narrowed in order to meet that goal and track the success of your strategy.

Home Page $250

Home Page: The purpose of a home page is to display your values and overall message, and should encourage readers to stay awhile and explore.  A typical Home Page may contain a blend of text, images, video, and links to bring readers more deeply into your site. You can include a short bio, a gallery of your best or most popular work, an index of all the major topics you write about as well as the products and services you provide. You may also include the option for readers to subscribe to your newsletter, or follow you on social media.

Index Page $350

The Index Page uses images and content from selected pages of your website and arranges them in 'subpages'. Index Pages are visually appealing, and can be arranged in grids, stacks, or slideshows. It's a great design option for a Home Page or as a portfolio of your work.

Blog Page $300

Your Blog Page is where your content lives, and is usually the most active page on your site. You can choose to display the full text of your posts, or use snippets. Arrange your content by category, feature specific posts at the top (or on your Home Page). . .  there are many options to help you express yourself and connect with your readers.

Commerce $500

If you plan to sell products or services, you can do this with your own online store. If you are considering this option, the best thing you can do right now is review all the Commerce features built in to Squarespace.

About Page $150

You might think the About Page should be all about you, but the purpose of this page is to show your readers how you can help them, entertain them, and/or educate them. Obviously you are going to introduce yourself and talk about your passion or your expertise, but the goal is to make a connection with your audience, which means your About Page is just as much about your readers as it is about you.

Contact Page $50

You may choose to include a Contact Form in your sidebar, on your About Page, or even after each blog post, but you have the option of a dedicated Contact Page with all the ways your readers can get in touch with you.

*After Launch $50/hour

After your website is launched, if you need additional help over and above the total of six hours of tutorials and tweaks included in your package, my rate is $50/hour.

Why Squarespace?

I started blogging about 14 years ago, right after Wordpress came onto the scene, and used their free platform, for many years. I moved to and Bluehost for about 6 years. Then there was Squarespace. I took a look at it out of curiosity, but was quickly hooked on all the built-in features. Beautiful templates with lots of flexibility that are all mobile-friendly, responsive 24-7 customer service, customization without coding, drag-and-drop interface, no updating of the platform, widgets, or plug-ins. . .what's not to love?

I quickly realized that I could spend more time being creative, which was why I started a blog in the first place. Bonus points.

Also, the reason I include tutorials in my prices is because I want all my customers to be able to publish regularly and keep their website up-to-date with great content.
